Do I need to deal with Brazilian customs?

For any parcel heading outside of the UK, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the Customs Agents in the destination country about the contents of your package so they can process it correctly.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to supply the TAX ID number for the recipient of the consignment for clearance, if this is not supplied the shipment will be returned.

When you book your delivery, we'll provide you with all the correct forms you need to help your parcel through customs in Brazil.

HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for sending parcels to Brazil.

What items can't I send to Brazil?

As well as the usual prohibited and restricted items you would expect from any international parcel delivery, there are a few things to note before sending a parcel to Brazil.

You may be required to obtain a preliminary license from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade. There are also specific requirements for invoices for textiles and computer software. Visit the Customs website (in Portuguese) or this website for more information.

When shipping to private individuals the consignee is required to clear goods through customs and will need to pay tax and duties and any other custom charges incurred during clearance.

They will also have to supply ID number, passport numbers etc. to customs for clearance. Some examples of items you can’t send to Brazil include:

RESTRICTED AND PROHIBITED GOODS

Food

Illegal and dangerous

Other

Fruit and vegetables

Guns, explosives and ammunition

Plant and plant products

Meat and fish

Deadly weapons

Cigarettes or alcoholic beverages of Brazilian origin

Eggs and dairy products

Illegal drugs

Counterfeit money and goods

*Please be aware that we also have our own prohibited items list, in addition to country-specific restrictions. Please Note: We cannot process parcels containing foodstuffs (which is classed as anything you can eat or drink) overseas.

How to package parcels to Brazil

We would advise to be vigilant when packing your parcel up for shipment, as it will be taking quite a long journey to Brazil, through several depots with automated sorting machines. Be sure to take extra effort to package your items securely and use some cushioning material inside your parcel. Take a look at our packaging advice here.

We’ll transport parcels up to 25kg in weight, 80x80x80cm max dimensions – though we strongly recommend you use a sturdy, robust outer box when sending your package and don’t overfill it, regardless of the dimensions of your parcel. If you’d like some further advice on packaging, take a look at our international packaging guide for tips to get everything there safe and sound.
