HOW DOES OUR PARCEL PRICING WORK?

 

Our delivery and postage charges for parcels will vary depending on a variety of factors, including:

 

  • whether you opt to drop your parcel off at a ServicePoint or depot, or have it collected from your front door.
  • your chosen service level – for example, standard next day delivery (depot to depot) is typically cheaper than next day delivery (before 12:00pm) (depot to door).
  • any additional contents cover you add – every parcel you send includes £50 free cover as standard. You can upgrade this if you’re sending higher value items.
  • how much your parcel weighs and measures – with our services you can send parcels weighing up to 25kg and measuring 120 x 70 x 70cm in size.

HOW DOES OUR DELIVERY SERVICE WORK?

 

From quote to doorstep, our process is designed to be quick and stress-free.

 

1. Get your quote and book your delivery – you can book additional services at the time of booking your order, such as pre-9am delivery slots.

2. Drop it off at your nearest depot or ServicePoint or arrange collection from your home or business address.

3. Your parcel will be sorted and transported during the night to the depot closest to your delivery destination.

4. Once here, it’ll go out for delivery with one of our drivers the next day.
 

 


 

What's included in your parcel delivery?

 
Contents cover icon £50 contents cover - We offer free £50 cover as standard across all UK and Ireland deliveries. This can also be upgraded if the actual value of the item you are shipping is greater than £50 - up to £5,000.
Home icon Collection from your home or business address - Waiting is the worst but, when you're sending a parcel there is an alternative to queuing in the line at the Post Office - we collect your parcel straight from your door. Just select Collection when booking.
Tracking icon Fully tracked service - Your parcel is always in safe hands. Our 'parcel tracker' will keep your recipient updated every step of the way, including being able to see their position on our driver's route - they'll also be able to opt for a free 'You're Next' alert via email or SMS.
Clock icon One hour delivery and collection slots - If you're having your parcel collected from your home or work address, we'll provide you with a one hour window when our driver will be with you. Your recipient will also receive a one hour delivery window text or email if you select this option and add their information at the time of booking.

We've prepared the answers to commonly asked questions on postage prices.
 

You can send small and medium sized parcels from just £3.84, large parcels from as little as £5.10 and extra-large parcels from £5.10. Your parcel post cost will ultimately depend on weight and size.

Both size and weight affect your delivery price.

The size (in cm) will determine which service it’s eligible for (e.g. a square box measuring 60 (l) x 60 (w) x 60cm (h) would be classed as a large parcel). 

However, if the box weighed more than the 20kg weight limit allotted for the large service, it would need to be sent using the extra-large service instead.

It’s important to make sure you’ve got the correct information to hand when choosing your delivery service and getting your quote.
 

Here, at DHL eCommerce UK, our standard parcel size is for any parcel measuring up to 60 x 60 x 60cm. For any parcel measuring more than 60 x 60 x 60cm, you’ll need to pay for extra-large delivery. 

We do everything we can to make sure your parcel reaches its recipient in the same condition you sent it in. However, accidents can happen, and parcels can get damaged during delivery.

If this happens, you, as the sender can make a claim. You’ll need to make sure you’ve taken out the right level of cover when booking your parcel. We offer £50 content coverage for free, with additional cover available to purchase for contents valued up to £5,000.

The postage rates for international postage are also impacted by the weight and size. However, they’re also determined by how you choose to ship it and where the destination is.

Important information about sending parcels in the post

 

There are several items which are not permitted to be sent through the DHL network. 

 

These include: 

  • breakable goods
  • valuable goods
  • dangerous goods
  • restricted goods

 

Before sending any items in the post you will need to ensure that your parcel does not contain anything which could be classed as breakable, valuable, dangerous and/or restricted.

Please note if your parcel contains anything that could fall into the above categories, any cover provided by us (either standard or extended contents cover) may be invalidated, and if your parcel causes damage to the parcels of other senders, we may recover the costs of repairing such damage from you.
