Do I need to deal with Greek customs?

Since the UK left the EU's single market and customs union from 1st January 2021, any parcels sent to EU countries now requires customs invoices - this includes parcels sent to Greece. When booking an international parcel, our easy-to-use booking form walks you through each step of the process and at the end, we'll generate a customs invoice which will print with your label.

HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for Greece.

It’s up to you to ensure your parcel’s contents are allowed into Greece. Failure to do so may result in additional customs charges, the parcel being returned to you or possibly being destroyed. Just ensure sure you don’t send anything on the restricted and prohibited list and take care to package your parcel well, whatever size it is, and you shouldn’t have any problems at all.

What items can't I send to Greece?

As with all deliveries outside the UK, please ensure that your parcel contents are allowed into the country. Greece, like many countries in Europe, EU or otherwise, has a number of restricted items that we might think are perfectly ordinary.

Some examples of items you can’t post include:

RESTRICTED AND PROHIBITED GOODS

Food

Illegal and dangerous

Other

Milk, meat, eggs and fish

Firearms and ammunition

Human remains, including ashes

*Please be aware that we also have our own prohibited items list, in addition to country-specific restrictions.

How to package parcels to Greece

DHL eCommerce UK transport items up to 25kg in weight, 80x80x80cm max dimensions. We strongly recommend you packaging your items carefully when bound for Greece; although it’s not too far away, remember your parcel will travel through a number of depots, many with automated sorting machines.

Be sure to pack your items well and use cushioning material inside your parcel, such as newspaper or bubble wrap to help prevent the contents from moving around inside the box and causing damage. Use a sturdy outer box when sending your package and make sure you don’t overfill it. For further advice, take a look at our handy international packaging guide for tips.
