WHAT FACTORS IMPACT INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY TIMES?

The world is a big place. Your parcel's journey with DHL eCommerce UK will be shaped by a number of important factors.

  • Your Chosen Service: DHL eCommerce UK international delivery times vary depending on the service you choose.

For example, Worldwide Air is our premium expedited service, offering speedier delivery times for urgent packages. Meanwhile, International Economy is our budget-friendly option, with deliveries fulfilled by local postal services, meaning delivery takes longer.

  • Your Parcel's Destination: The further your parcel needs to travel, the longer it will take to deliver. Parcel deliveries from the UK to destinations in Europe typically arrive more quickly than those in Asia or Australasia/Oceania.

  • Customs Clearance: Every parcel you send abroad must pass through customs in the UK and your destination country. It's important to ensure the correct documentation is provided and completed to avoid delays. You can find out more in our guide on international customs. You’ll also need to make sure you’re not sending anything prohibited – we’ve put together a helpful guide on what you can and can’t send abroad.

  • Peak Seasons & Public Holidays: During busy periods of the year, such as the run-up to Christmas, or public holidays (either here in the UK or your parcel's destination country), overall shipping volumes can increase, and operational hours can be affected. This can lead to extended delivery times. Always double-check before sending.

  • Remote Delivery Locations: International delivery to addresses in remote, rural or less accessible locations can take slightly longer than those addressed to metropolitan areas with established logistical infrastructure.

  • Unforeseen Global Events: The uncommon occurrences that we can't predict, like major disruptions caused by severe weather, natural disasters or significant global events. They can impact transportation networks and lead to unavoidable delays.

Whether you’re sending a special gift to a loved one, or a business sending important post, if it’s a time-sensitive delivery, look no further than Worldwide Air

It’s our fastest international parcel delivery service, with delivery times starting from just two days and coverage of more than 160 countries and territories.

We operate our international delivery service from Monday to Friday. However, there are some exceptions.

Saturday Delivery: For some international destinations, especially within Europe, Saturday delivery may be available as an upgrade option. It costs more and needs to be selected when booking your shipment.

Sunday Delivery: We do not offer Sunday delivery for international parcels. In some countries outside of the UK (like parts of Asia or the Middle East, where Sunday is a standard working day), where our local delivery partners may fulfil your delivery, this might occur. However, it's not a standard offering from the UK.
