Do I need to deal with Norwegian customs?

For any parcel heading outside of the UK, you’ll need to provide a customs invoice. This tells the Customs Agents in the destination country about the contents of your package so they can process it correctly. When you book your delivery, we will provide you with all the correct documentation you need to help your parcel through Norway’s customs.

Please note - Invoices for Norway must be sent with all parcels and state the invoice address and delivery address as the same Norwegian address. A phone number for the consignee must always be provided on the invoice and it must be readable (in English is fine) – without these things, your parcel will very likely be delayed.

You can find out more about the restrictions from the Toll Customs website. It’s also worth checking out our prohibited items list to see what you can and can’t send.

HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for Norway.

What items can't I send to Norway?

As well as the usual restricted and prohibited items you would expect from any international parcel delivery, there are some additional restrictions on what you can and can’t send to Norway.

Norwegian Customs can check any item that arrives in the country and you are responsible for complying with their rules and regulations.

You can find more information on general bans and restrictions to Norway here, but some examples of items you can’t send include:

RESTRICTED AND PROHIBITED GOODS

Food

Illegal and dangerous

Other

Alcohol

Weapons

Medicines

*Please be aware that we also have our own prohibited items list, in addition to country-specific restrictions.

How to package parcels to Norway

Although Norway doesn’t seem far from the UK, we still advise you take care with packaging; your parcel will travel through a number of depots with automated sorting machines so be sure to pack your items well and use cushioning material inside your parcel to help protect the contents from damage.

We’ll transport parcels up to 25kg in weight and 80x80x80cm max in dimensions. We recommend you use a strong and sturdy outer box when sending your package and don’t overfill it, regardless of the dimensions of your parcel. For further advice, take a look at our handy international packaging guide.
