How long will it take to deliver

Whether you choose to have your parcels collected from your home or work address in the UK, you can usually expect delivery to your Nigerian destination within 3-4 days from collection. Once your parcel is there, three delivery attempts will be made and upon successful delivery, a signature will be acquired by the recipient.

While we will make every effort to get your items delivered within these guidelines, depending on the destination, it can take longer for your parcel to arrive, especially in more remote locations within Sub Saharan Africa.

We provide cheap and convenient door to door delivery from the UK to Nigeria. Simply book your delivery online and one of our drivers will collect your parcel from your home or work on a day of your choosing. Your parcel is taken to its local depot, sorted and shipped overnight to one of our distribution centres, then onwards to your destination.

Do I need to deal with Nigerian customs?

When you send a parcel to Nigeria, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the Customs Agents in the destination country about the contents of your package so they can process it correctly.

As with most international posting, when you send a parcel to Nigeria from the UK, there are sometimes additional customs duties and import taxes that need to be paid.

When sending parcels to Nigeria it is very important you keep an eye on the specific requirements the country has established for importing. The Nigeria Customs Administration controls importation requirements inside the nation. Nigeria takes a strong stance against smuggling, so it is important, when you are sending a parcel to Nigeria, to ensure all your paperwork is filled out correctly.

Importation forms will ask for precise objects that are contained within your consignment, as well as the value, weight and source. Filling in the forms should help you decide whether any of your items are restricted. When you book your delivery, we will provide you with all the correct customs documentation you need to help your parcel through customs in Nigeria.

HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for Nigeria.

What items can't I send to Nigeria?

As well as the usual prohibited and restricted items you would expect from any international parcel delivery service, there are a number of additional restrictions on what you can and can’t send to Nigeria.

It’s important to ensure that your parcel’s contents will be accepted into the country. If your parcel isn’t accepted into Nigeria, it’s likely to incur additional charges as your parcel is either returned to you or potentially, on some occasions, destroyed. You can find more information on Nigerian Customs at the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian Post Office.

Some examples of items you can’t send to Nigeria include:

RESTRICTED AND PROHIBITED GOODS

Food

Illegal and dangerous

Other

Poultry, beef or pork

Flammable materials

Corrugated paper and paper boards

Refined vegetables oils and fats

Hazardous materials

Bagged cement
Cane or beet sugar Weapons Soaps and detergents
Fruit juice Medications Mosquito repellent coils

*Please be aware that we also have our own prohibited items list, in addition to country-specific restrictions.

How to package parcels to Nigeria

When looking to send a parcel to Nigeria from the UK, we would advise you take extra care with packaging, as your parcel will be taking a long journey and will pass through a number of depots, most of which have automated sorting machines. Be sure to package your items well. Using cushioning material (such as bubble wrap) inside your parcel will help protect the contents from damage. Take a look at our packaging advice here.

We can transport parcels to Nigeria up to 25kg in weight and up to 80x80x80cm in size. We strongly recommend you use a sturdy outer box when sending your package and don’t overfill it, regardless of the dimensions of your parcel. If you’d like some further advice on packaging, take a look at our handy international packaging guide for tips to get everything there without damage.
