How long will it take to deliver

With not only some of the cheapest courier services from the UK to Mauritius, they’re fast as well – even though the island is off the south east coast of Africa., you can still expect delivery to take just 3-4 days*. Note that we always aim to deliver your items within these timescales, sometimes it can take longer for your parcel to arrive, especially to more isolated destinations.

Remember also to be aware of what you can and can’t send in the post – all items will need clearance through Customs, so ensure you label everything clearly and correctly to avoid any unnecessary delays and costs. See below for more information on Mauritian customs.

Do I need to deal with Mauritian customs?

For any parcel heading outside of the UK, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the Customs Agents in the destination country about the contents of your package so they can process it correctly.

As with most international postings, when you send a parcel to Mauritius from the UK, there are sometimes additional customs duties and import taxes that need to be paid, depending on the contents. When preparing your package, include an inventory describing all the contents to comply with these legislations.

Sending personal effects to Mauritius requires further declaration; all new items are subject to duties and taxes (payable by the recipient upon collection) and used items must be at least six months old to be classed as duty exempt. Note that any allowable foodstuffs and cosmetics are subject to duty no matter how long the owner has had them.

If this sounds like a challenge, don’t worry - when you book your delivery with us, we will provide you with all the correct forms you need to help your parcel through both UK and Mauritian customs.

HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for Mauritius.

What items can't I send to Mauritius?

Mauritius has several items that fall into this category, as such, we advise to re-check the regulations every time you send a parcel, as the regulations can change often.

For more information on restricted and prohibited items for Mauritius – visit the Mauritius Revenue Authority website.

Products such as alcohol, perfume and electronic cigarettes are not only prohibited to send to Mauritius, they’re also on our prohibited list - take a look at the full list before you prepare to send your parcel. In the meantime, some examples of items you can’t post to Mauritius include:

RESTRICTED AND PROHIBITED GOODS

Other

Meat, poultry and fish

How to package parcels to Mauritius

Depending where in the UK you send from, the journey your parcel will take to Mauritius is over 6000 miles – which is why we advise taking extra care when preparing your parcels for transport. All parcels will go through a number of depots with both manual and automated sorting machines, not to mention the road and air transit routes to get all the way to the Indian Ocean.

We’ll carry parcels up to 25kg in weight and 80x80x80cm max in size, but no matter what the size or weight, always use a strong and sturdy outer box to send your items in and don’t overfill it. Remember to use lightweight cushioning material inside your parcel to help protect the contents from moving around too much inside and becoming damaged.
