Do I need to deal with Croatian customs?

All parcels sent to Croatia from the UK, need to be accompanied by a customs invoice. Don't worry, our booking form will ask you for all of the information which needs to be included in the customs invoice and 5 copies will print with your label. All you need to do is securely affix all copies to the outside of your parcel. It’s up to you to ensure the parcel contents you send to Croatia are allowed into the country - failing to do so may result in extra charges, the parcel being returned or possibly even destroyed. Avoid this by making sure you don’t send anything on the restricted or prohibited list.

What items can't I send to Croatia?

Before booking your courier service to Croatia, we recommend you check that all the items are allowed into the country; what seem like ordinary, every day products to us in the UK are sometimes restricted or prohibited to send to other countries. Croatia has several items that fall into this category, so we advise to re-check the regulations every time you send a parcel, as the rules and regulations can change from time to time.

Products such as perishables, ivory and hazardous materials are not only prohibited to send to Croatia, they’re also on the DHL eCommerce UK prohibited list - take a look at the full list before you prepare to send your parcel. In the meantime, some examples of items you can’t post to Croatia include:

Illegal and dangerous

Meat, fish and poultry

Non-prescriptive drugs Jewellery
Dairy products Asbestos and dangerous goods Furs and ivory
Perishable goods Firearms, ammunition and explosives Precious metals and stones

*Please be aware that we also have our own prohibited items list, in addition to country-specific restrictions.

How to package parcels to Croatia

Depending where in the UK you send your parcel from, the journey your parcel will take to Croatia is around 1000 miles – which isn’t the furthest of distances for a package to be transported, but far enough that we advise you make an extra effort when preparing your parcels. All DHL eCommerce UK packages will likely pass through a number of depots with both manual and automated sorting machines, as well as the road and air transit time, so the occasional scrape or bump could easily happen.

We’ll carry parcels up to 25kg in weight and 80x80x80cm max, but regardless of the size or weight, you ought to use a strong and sturdy outer box to send your items in. Remember not to over fill the box and to use lightweight packing material inside your parcel to help cushion and protect the contents from moving around inside and becoming damaged.
