How long will it take to deliver

Not only do we offer some of the cheapest courier services from the UK to Chile, they’re fast as well – even with destinations in South America, you can still expect delivery to take just 3-5 days*. Note that we aim to deliver your items within these timescales, sometimes it can take longer for your parcel to arrive, especially to more isolated destinations.

Remember also to consider what you can and can’t send in the post – all items will need to clear Customs, so make sure you label everything clearly and correctly to avoid any unnecessary delays and costs. See [below for more information on Chilean customs].

Do I need to deal with Chilean customs?

For any parcel heading outside of the EU, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the Customs Agents in the destination country about the contents of your package so they can process it correctly.

As with most international postings, when you send a parcel to Chile from the UK, there are sometimes additional customs duties and import taxes that need to be paid, depending on the contents.

Sending personal effects to Chile requires further declaration and a copy of the recipients passport will be required for collection. For Personal Effects under the value of USD$1500, shouldn’t attract additional duty or taxes, however there will be an extra fee of approx. USD$50 + VAT + handling fee. ALL personal effects will be inspected by customs.

If this sounds like a challenge, don’t worry - when you book your delivery with DHL Parcel UK, we will provide you with all the correct forms you need to help your parcel through both UK and Chilean customs.

HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for Chile.

How to package parcels to Chile

Depending where you send your parcel from in the UK, the journey your parcel will take to Chile is about 7500 miles – which is why we advise you make an extra effort when preparing your parcels for transport. All DHL Parcel UK packages be handled with care, but as they will likely pass through a number of depots with both manual and automated sorting machines, as well as the road and air transit, it possible that a knock or bump could easily occur.

We carry parcels up to 25kg in weight and 80x80x80cm max, but regardless of the size or weight, you should always use a strong and sturdy outer box to send your items in. Remember not to over fill the box and use some lightweight material inside your parcel to help cushion and protect the contents from moving around inside and becoming damaged.
